Tamsin and Dane – first baby, born at home

Feb 17, 2018

“My waters broke at home whilst I was resting after a busy weekend. I was 38 + 1 and at no point thought that my birthing experience was about to commence. It was my first baby and had continuously been told “oh, expect to go at least 2 weeks over….after all its your first” I kept reminding myself that baby would arrive when baby was ready and at 38+1 baby was ready!!

We had decided to have a home birth and for us it was a huge part of the birth. I was so comfortable in my own home and felt safe with the wonderful midwives and also my birth partner, (my husband), who was engrossed in his role and was truly amazing. The midwives really supported our birth preferences, respected every decision we made and continuously read my body language and confirmed this by speaking with my husband.

My active labour lasted 3.5 hours and not once did I push. I allowed my body to remain in control and did this by using the hypnobirthing visualisations and breathing techniques. On the birth of our baby boy, the midwife turned to me and said “Wow, you just breathed your baby out”. I was elated. In my own mind that was my ultimate goal which I hadn’t shared with the midwife, so for her to say that completed our perfect hypnobirthing experience.

Since giving birth i have been telling everyone about the wonderful birth I had and how it was thanks to Janet and the hypnobirthing knowledge we had gained. I can not thank Janet enough as her knowledge and course provided us a life experience filled with calmness, happiness and a perfect bundle of joy. Thank you Janet x”
