Hi Janet, Just to let you know our baby girl came into the world in a hurry !!! The story goes: Contractions started around 9pm during one of our Hypno practices and became regular quite quickly. By 11.30pm I called the labour ward to advise the community midwife, but also had a bit of bleeding which they weren’t convinced was a “show” and so I was asked to go to hospital to get checked. (ALWAYS WISE – Janet’s words)
When we arrived at 1am (after dropping off our son at grandma’s on the way), the community midwife was out on another call and I was told if all was ok I could go home and hopefully she’d be free for me when I needed her. I was checked and examined and was 5cm dilated – due to that, the blood loss and no community midwife, I was told I had to stay put. We agreed this was the best plan and I requested the use of the pool – which is currently out of order!
So off to a labour room we went. I was offered gas and air but really didn’t feel I needed it right then so continued as I had at home just breathing and listening to the MP3.
Things progressed very quickly and there were a few minutes just before birth where there was some concern for our baby, but the excellent maternity team around us acted quickly (as they are well trained in these situations) and then she arrived a few minutes later, just over an hour after we arrived at hospital, and is she is perfect !
I was congratulated by the hospital staff on how well I coped in what could have been a frightening few minutes at the end. Her birth enabled me to stay so much more calmer than I would have been, had I not done Hypnobirthing !!
I’m so so greatful to you and what you have taught me, and really don’t think it would have been as quick at the beginning, or as good as an experience. I feel much better this time than I did first time round so thank you so much. From the 4 of us, thank you 😍 xxx
