Katherine and Jamie, baby born in hospital, first baby

Feb 11, 2020

We were told about Janet 5 years ago by a very close friend and I’d never forgotten about the positive stories she shared about her / HB… Even though at that point my hubby and I were not ready to have a baby quite yet, it just stuck with me.

Cue 2019, we’re pregnant,
and by this point, on telling work colleagues, gym friends and the like, our news, it felt like anyone and everyone wanted to recommend Janet!!! But I was already bought in because of my previous referral! 🙂

Wow. This is nuts! Everyone knows of her. She MUST be good, I thought! So we booked a 1:1
HB course to start around WK28.

Lessons were eye opening! Not only did we learn about HB – but we learned so much about birth and babies in general that we had no idea about, even as adults. Game changing stuff!! Janet was generous with her knowledge and generous with her time. She helped us rid ourselves of preconceptions and dramatic media images of birth. She showed us how to trust in our instincts and question everything in order to feel empowered under the pressure of pregnancy and labour. And so much more!

Even when we had finished the course, she kept in touch with regular comms / articles etc of interest. It wasn’t forced. She genuinely cares about people, their circumstances and their experiences. She’s a birth warrior and makes you feel excited about a foreign situation. She took calls when she didn’t have to. She was a great sounding board and ultimately, expert and friend!

Our birth couldn’t have been more different to our birth plan… but we
felt so empowered with the choices we ended up making because we went into it all with a calm confidence that Janet helped us achieve.

We would highly recommend Janet / HB as a theory to new families and those who have done it before. After all, her teachings are relatable, full of evidence and anyone can work with them! Wouldn’t you rather come away from your pregnancy / birth story telling positive tales than feeling down about something which many say is a traumatic time – even though it’s a time when they are bringing new life and such joy into the world?
