Slightly delayed but have been promising to share my hypnobirthing story. My first daughter was born at 35 weeks whilst on holiday in the UK. We’d only attended two of four hypnobirthing sessions but had been practising scripts and relaxation since the first one. I had PROM (Pre term rupture of membranes) and contacted my hypnobirthing teacher before going to hospital who gave me support and advice as well as emailing additional tracks and affirmations. I listened on and off through the night and in the morning began to feel some aches. These progressed quite rapidly into very intense surges which resulted in baby being born in a labour less than two hours long and with an apgar of 9. 2 years later, after two miscarriages I was pregnant again after some reflexology sessions with Janet.
We booked a hypnobirthing refresher session with her at 34 weeks and enjoyed a positive evening of relaxation and left ready to practise scripts again to prepare. Next morning, I woke after an unsettled night and had some bleeding which I felt needed checking out. Arrived at the assessment unit around 11am, was examined and told my waters had broken, which I had no idea of. Again, this progressed quite quickly and a further examination at my request just a few hours later showed I was 8cm dilated already. Focused on my breathing throughout and with wonderful unintrusive and supportive midwives, baby was born even earlier and quicker than her sister ( 34 weeks, 1hr 42minutes active labour) and also had an apgar of 9. Here she is now, on the eve of her due date, June 12th now , looking every bit as relaxed as a hypnobaby should be!
