Hayley and Jamie – First baby, water birth in hospital

Nov 19, 2017

For all you parents to be who have thought about or never heard of Hypnobirthing, may I suggest please get involved and research it. 2 weeks ago today I birthed our baby Maggie using Hypnobirthing. I breathed her down using visualisation and being completely confident in my body’s capability, she came quickly and safely in the pool at FGH. My birthing partners Jamie and Adele were invaluable and kept me in control using techniques we learned and practiced over and over for months. I’m indebted to Janet Naylor our Hypnobirthing teacher who throughout the pregnancy instilled the confidence and kept us informed with our choices to make decisions right for our baby. On numerous occasions we were told our baby was ‘late’ as she hadn’t arrived on her ‘due date’ and at 38 weeks we were told to have a stretch and sweep at 40 weeks. I was told I couldn’t stay pregnant forever by a consultant who attempted to book us in for a sweep and an induction all of which we declined due to being informed that we have the choice to say no. Babies are never late, they arrive when they want to if they’re allowed. Maggie arrived at 41 weeks and 5 days with no intervention, she came exactly when she wanted to and I can say I couldn’t have had a better birthing experience. Birth without fear ladies, be informed and make the choices which are right for you and your baby.
