“My husband and I went along to the hypnobirthing course as it came highly recommended by a few of our friends. I was around 23 weeks pregnant when we did the course and immediately after completing felt a sense of relaxation and calmness and was really able to enjoy my pregnancy.
Due to a pre-existing health condition, I knew that a caesarean section may have always been the outcome for my birth plan, which caused quite a lot of anxiety. We talked this through with Janet on the course and she offered a wealth of information and introduced us to the concept of ‘family friendly’ or ‘gentle caesarean’.
Around the time of the change of our birth plan, I had some reflexology with Janet. This really helped me get back to just enjoying my pregnancy without any added stress.
As my pregnancy progressed my husband and I felt empowered and confident to take an active part in the decision making process about my birth and opted for a gentle elective caesarean. The knowledge and expertise that Janet shared with us helped us to request the birth that we wanted even though this wasn’t our original plan.
On the day of the birth we were both really chilled out and just so excited to meet our baby. We used all that we had learnt from the hypnobirthing course to support each other and keep each other calm. The surgeon even commended us for opting for a gentle caesarean and followed all our requests for the birth.
When the screen was lowered and we were able to watch our baby being born it was the most amazing feeling. And just like that our little Hypnobaby arrived into the world.
We can’t thank Janet enough for all that she’s done for us. We can 100% say that my pregnancy and our baby’s birth was such a positive experience. Even my post-op recovery has been smooth which I’m also putting down to the hypnobirthing. Our son Lincoln is such a chilled out baby boy.
