Hi Janet, just wanted to let you know that our baby was born on Monday morning
We are just so so happy. Labour was quite long, we originally went into the birth centre at 1.30am and I was 4cm dilated, but things slowed down so we came home, but then waters went, so we ended up going the hospital Sunday lunchtime as there were staff shortages at the birth centre.
Staff at the hospital were amazing and things progressed pretty well, lots of breathing and relaxation in the pool, Dale was also brilliant!
But even after being 10cm for a few hours she still wasn’t getting her head out and surges were slowing down, so we ended up with syntocin being used to increase frequency and length of surges, but after another couple of hours the dr examined and said that although her head was well down she was facing sideways and more help was needed.
The last bit is a bit of a whirlwind, but we went into theatre and they used the suction cup to help her out with 3 more surges.
Even though the last bit didn’t go ‘to plan’ I still felt calm and relaxed (but also exhausted by the end!) throughout pretty much the whole process and practicing Hypnobirthing definitely helped with that.
The two midwives were incredible and amazingly supportive!
Sorry for the longest message in history! And a massive thank you for everything.
When she arrived it was the best thing ever and she is amazing! We are two happy (but tired) parents. Anna and Dale xxx
