Andi and Tim, second baby, VBAC born in the pool in hospital

Jul 31, 2017

From father Tim: When our baby started to arrive, the pool made everything easy to see and understand what was happening at any point. The midwife was calm and encouraging and very helpful. I was told how to receive and hold the baby (e.g. don’t bring the head above the water until she says it’s ok to do so). As soon as the head was out, I was able to support it and then very quickly after a few more surges, the rest of the baby’s body popped out.

I was able to clean the baby a little under the water before the midwife told me it was alright to hand the baby to my wife. By this time, only a few seconds it seemed after the baby was out in the water, my wife had stopped the gas and air and was more aware of the real situation. I handed her the baby and helped place it on her chest. I think we both felt it was probably the most amazing, emotional, deeply profound moment of our lives. Hypnobirthing helped us stay calm and confident and gave us power in a situation so we could make our own decisions.

From mother Andi: The course was very useful for us (not to mention to find a treasure friend in you). My hubby made well informed decisions about me and baby, and at the very end, when it all happened, I did manage to reach down to primal, focus and gave birth naturally after a previous caesarean (VBAC). We came home the same day. The baby is a very calm baby, he only cries when his bowels are moving. Thank you Janet!
