“We attended Janet’s hypnobirthing course in August, this was my second pregnancy and we wanted to approach the labour with a calm and serene attitude . After Janet’s brilliant and very informative hypnobirthing course we continued practicing up breath, visualisations, and relaxation techniques daily.
I had a pretty textbook pregnancy, until 35 weeks , where unfortunately i discovered I had Obstetric cholestasis (intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy), I was advised to deliver my baby no later than 38 weeks, we made the informed decision to go ahead with the induction, in this time I went to see Janet for reflexology which was bliss ,my anxiety levels where heightened due to the impending induction, janet again was very calm, supportive and a fantastic support.
The induction consisted of two pessary’s , in two days ,my waters being broke and after these failed attempts, I had the synthetic hormone drip, I requested the mobile baby screening and battery operated drip stand, so I could walk around and be comfortable, I practiced my up breathing when surges came on a birthing ball, I visualised easily when doing the up breaths and remained calm ,I even managed a sleep in the middle of the night.
When I woke up I continued up breathing, listened to river dawn and my husband assisted me in reminding of various upward visualisation, during this time I had gas and air, and metpid, I suddenly felt the urge to push and delivered my little girl swiftly at 7:18 on the 10/10/17. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to get in the pool! We also did the delayed cord cutting and skin to skin as planned.
Compared to my last birth it was an amazing experience and was wonderful to feel the sensation of giving birth, the birth might not have been what I originally planned , due to medical needs , but turned out calm and serene without panic, I honestly believe hypnobirthing helped myself and my husband, deal with labour and approach it in completely refreshing way.
Thank you Janet.”
